Rain Water Harvesting

Water is an integral part of our lives, we need water for agriculture, drink and to meet our daily requirements, however, many of us are not so fortunate, and unable to get sufficient water due to scarcity of water in water stressed areas. As a result, they are unable to cultivate their lands, and also couldn't get safe drinking water. One such community lives in the villages of Jhagadia, and due to lack of scientific approach, they couldn't till their land to its fullest, and also unable to get clean water to meet their communities’ requirement.

Lanxess India Pvt. Ltd. identified the problem, and decided to intervene to resolve water scarcity issue as a part of their CSR activities. Web Of NGOs was fortunate enough to be able to dovetail their mission with one of its associated NGOs Arid Communities & Technologies, The NGO with their origin in Gujarat, and experience of working in different states of India had the technology, resources and expertise to deal with such scenarios. The NGO helped corporate to plan the water recharge structures in a scientific manner, and corporate leveraged their network of vendors to implement the project under the supervision of the NGO. Local personnel will be trained to maintain the structures to make it sustainable.

Clean & Safe Drinking Water

The fact remains self-evident that we need clean & safe drinking water in order to survive, however, many of us are not so fortunate, and unable to get drinking water with minimum standards, hence they fall victim to many water borne diseases such as diarrhoea and cholera. The communities in Dahej region are no different, the water was tested in lab, and bacteria & viruses were found.

M/s Deepak Fertilizers & Petrochemicals Corporation Ltd., was eager to solve the problem within their vicinity, and decided to provide water purifiers to each household through their CSR wing Ishanya Foundation. Web Of NGOs was fortunate to dovetail their requirements with M/s NCourage Social Enterprise Foundation (a wholly subsidiary of TATA Chemicals Ltd.) have their presence pan India, and manufactures water purifiers and community water plants working on gravity based (no electricity required) UHF technology, and their cartridge meets the Log Reduction Value norms for bacteria, viruses and cysts as per USEPA guidelines. Total 450 purifiers delivered by the NGO. Please note that the purifiers are yet to distribute to the community.

Women Empowerment

In the light of recent pandemic, people lost their jobs, their lives, and it wasn't easy to survive especially for people at the bottom of the pyramid section. Such a case was there for rural women in Waghodia, but fortunately, they were trained in various income generation activities including stitching by SCORE Livelihood Foundation, and on the other hand, M/s Hitachi Energy Limited was also concerned about their employees’ health due to the pandemic, hence distributed face-masks to their employees (including contractual) on monthly basis, but looking for local vendors who can supply them high quality face-masks on monthly basis, further as a part of social responsibility, they were also willing to support needy people, Web Of NGOs is fortunate enough to play pivotal role in connecting two stakeholders to fulfill each other's requirements. Now, rural women in waghodia are supplying around 8000 facemasks to M/s Hitachi Energy Limited through SCORE Livelihood Foundation, hence earning income on monthly basis while working part-time from their homes with average monthly income of INR 4000/- to 5000/-. This part time income helped their families to support their basic needs in the time of crisis, and helped them to live a dignified life. The initiative is ongoing.

Income Generation

Women Empowerment is about providing platform where they can showcase their potential to overcome any barrier, contribute to their family and nation at large, and live a dignified life. M/s Grasim Industries truly believes in that. To embrace that M/s Grasim Jan Seva Trust took the initiative to impart livelihood training to the Self Help Groups, and make them self-reliant. Web Of NGOs was fortunate enough to play pivotal role, in their vision, by connecting them with the trainer who shares the same vision when it comes to women empowerment. The income generation training (phenyl making) took 5 days to complete, and the results were astonishing. They were captivated by the vigour, adaptability and enthusiasm of the SHGs.

L&T Energy - Hydrocarbon has the same philosophy. Webofngos is glad to facilitate successful collaboration between L&T Energy - Hydrocarbon and Aruna Kishor Foundation for their employee volunteering program in Waghodia, Vadodara, Gujarat.

The project was for 8 days (4 days orientation + 4 days field activities) where more than 100 volunteers from the company participated to spread awareness on various issues Water & Sanitation, education, health & hygiene through multiple activities such as: poster making, puppet show, skit performance, village rally, wall painting etc.
